The Desktop Analytics Package Of Your Dreams
Do you love Google analytics? Do you love how granular it allows you to get with your data? Do you want more? The guys over at Boulevart have quietly been working on a pretty fantastic desktop version of Google analytics using the Adobe Air framework and the analytics API set. While it is still in Beta, we have been testing for the past few weeks and I have to say, I think it is ready for release. The official site is over on the Analytics Reporting Suite domain, but the real action is on the dev blog here.
The beta version of the Analytics Reporting Suite brings Google analytics to your desktop in a visually striking way along with a slew of additional functionality that’s just not possible with the standard web based version of Analytics. According to the official site:
The Analytics Reporting Suite brings Google Analytics to the desktop.
It’s an Adobe AIR desktop application that delivers the same advantageous as Google’s web version but with a richer experience and extended functionality.
While the developers are still trying to decide on an exact UI design (they are looking for public votes on this) what they have so far is pretty.
The ability to switch easily and compare different accounts.

Fantastic animated and FAST reports.

Some nifty cross segmentation features.

By far the best feature though is the integration with Google maps for use in the geographic location reports. The application is completely free at the moment and will be free for standard users when it comes out of beta. The application requires you to download Adobe Air but it is completely worth the small, 11MB download. More screenshots can be found here.
Watch the brief video on Youtube here to some of the other little features. Try it out for yourself and see how much fun analytics can be. If you don’t think analytics is fun, well… you probably would not have read this far. Let me know your thoughts on this handy new tool.

Looks great. I am especially looking forward to the new cross segmentation features. Also, the map overlay feature displayed on the YouTube video looks like it provides more detail than the Google Analytics platform. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I’ve been checking this out for a few months, while it does have some plus points, it can be a little cumbersome for reporting options - http://www.barryhand.ie/environmentally-friendly-google-analytics-running-on-air/

Sounds Great Dave. Will give this a go when it is released.

What is exactly the difference between this and GA exept that this runs on desktop and GA in web browser? Is there any extra features compared to Google Analytics or what? Or is this just faster than GA?
April 1st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
This is very interesting. I’m going to try it to see how it compares to Dynamic Site Stats, which I use instead of Google Analytics.
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:34 pm
I will give it a go, too. ANd Barry thanks for the informative Link :)
Great, thank you
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:46 pm

April 3rd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
I’m totally going to download this right now. Thanks for the info, I’ve never heard of it before. Looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the normal GA, so it’ll be a nice change of pace.

What an awesome app. Are there any other people out there building apps like this? I think that there is a real market for this stuff because many people I talk to do not really like the standard Google Analytics layout and design, they find it confusing. This app looks alot more appealing, I can’t wait to give it a test drive!
April 8th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
This tool looks amazingly useful. I will be downloading and using shortly. The one i am currently using just isn’t up scratch, i hope this will be much more useful.

April 23rd, 2008 at 9:45 am
When is the full version going to release?
Thank you for sharing.. all i can say to the beta version is AMAZING..
April 23rd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I’ve tested it but i’m not convinced. I’ve almost reached the maximum amount of accounts and for each site i must submit my user name and password again…
Otherwise, you can create a Google account for each client and configure them all into one program.
anyway a great job for The guys over at Boulevart.

I love Google Analytics for its possibilities. I am very keen on this new product. And if they want to have money for it they sure will build in new interessting features that Goggle Analytics does not offer.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
I found out about this application from this page, went and got it, tried it out and I’m well impressed..

I might jump on the Google analytics bandwagon, from what i see it has some interesting stats.
At the moments I’m using twatch which shows referrals of visitors, countries, UV a day, search engine keywords ect. Google’s webmaster tools also is very good but the info is not real time. Thanks for posting this.
August 14th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
I’ve recently seen some articles on a product called Prism by SiSense, that also performs desktop google analytics.
September 28th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
I tried this app several months ago, but I wasn’t sure why I should use this rather than the google analytics. :)
October 8th, 2008 at 3:19 am
That’s a neat application. I wonder when someone comes out with a true business intelligence reporting application for website stats. It would be great to be able to generate your own reports using something like pivot tables.
